At Phydeaux, we’ve been using the Internet since we opened in 2002 to help us research products and ideas to help make your lives with your pets the best they can be. Throughout the 16 years we’ve been open, we’ve seen countless online stories about the latest thing that will harm pets. With all of them, we make sure that we investigate thoroughly, so that we can give our customers the best information available. Sometimes there’s some truth to the rumors, sometimes there isn’t, and sometimes we find problems when there’s no rumor at all.
Today’s concern is over grain-free foods. There have been some unsubstantiated theories about dogs having heart problems linked to some grain-free foods. We have been aware of this growing rumor for the past few weeks, and we’ve done our best to investigate to see if there’s any truth behind it. So far, we have yet to see any reliable scientific study or coordinated official report that shows any problem with dogs eating grain-free diets. In our anecdotal, non-scientific experience over the past 16 years, we’ve see many thousands of dogs (and especially cats) thrive on grain-free diets, whether they’re kibble, canned, freeze-dried, or raw. We are continuing to closely watch the stories as they develop, including the FDA’s investigation of the theory. As of yet, we have no reason to think that there’s any problem with feeding most dogs a grain-free diet.
As always, we will continue to investigate this rumor, and any others, in order to continue to provide the best products and information for your pets. Feel free to come in and chat with our knowledgeable staff about any questions you may have about this topic or anything else pet-related. We’re here to help!
